Zakir Husain Delhi College, one of Delhi’s oldest and most distinguished institutions, proudly commemorated 100 years of its historic affiliation with the University of Delhi. To mark this milestone, the college hosted a Special Centenary Alumni Meet and Cultural Evening on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 6:00 PM in the college auditorium.
This landmark celebration was brought to life through the dedicated efforts of the organizing committee, led by Principal Prof. Narendra Singh, with significant coordination by Convener, Prof. Sanjeev Kumar, whose meticulous planning ensured a seamless and memorable evening.
In his heartfelt welcome, Principal Prof. Narendra Singh reflected on the college’s rich history and invited alumni to carry forward its legacy with renewed vigour. Prof. Kumar reflected on the institution’s journey since its founding as Madrasa Ghaziuddin more than three centuries ago, describing it as a sanctuary of reform, a crucible of dialogue, and a torchbearer of India’s intellectual tradition.
The evening paid heartfelt tribute to legendary figures including Master Ramchandra, Ali Sardar Jafri, Bhisham Sahni, Zakaullah Dehlvi, Sikander Bakht, Shri J.N. Dixit, Chaudhary Prem Singh, and Prof. Gopi Chand Narang, whose contributions continue to inspire generations.
The programme opened with the solemn yet uplifting rendition of the University Kul Geet, setting the tone for an evening that blended nostalgia with cultural vibrancy. A highlight was the felicitation ceremony, honouring distinguished alumni whose journeys exemplify the college’s values of excellence and service. The cultural segment featured a graceful Mohiniattam dance performance and a soulful musical recital by students, adding artistic splendour and youthful energy to the occasion. Alumni shared cherished recollections of their time at the college, their voices carrying the warmth of memory and the pride of belonging.
The celebration brought together an illustrious gathering of alumni from diverse fields—politics, diplomacy, literature, journalism, and academia—underscoring the institution’s long-standing legacy of excellence and public service.
